Learn International, Naas - Study Abroad Coordinator

Job Description and Duties

Learn International is a study abroad provider offering programmes globally to higher education institutions and students. We serve students who are over the age of 18 from English speaking countries gaining academic experiences in Europe. 

This is a very varied role and you will be contributing to every aspect of the business. 1) You will take ownership of specific projects and be expected to give 100% at all times to deliver on our mission to provide the highest quality Study Abroad programmes to our partner institutions.  2) You will be working with your colleagues in a team environment to meet tight deadlines. 3) You will understand the realities of working in a demanding customer centric environment and have great attention to detail. 4) Flexibility, enthusiasm and dedication to serving students and education abroad.

Applicants will have a minimum  of 3 years experience working in international education and an in-depth understanding of the US Higher Education System.

Department and Reporting Structure

This position will be located at the home office in Naas, Co. Kildare Ireland within the Faculty-led Programmes department. It will report to the COO. It is understood that there are high and low seasons for this position and times when weekend and evening work, overnight, and travel (international included) will be required. 

Summary of Job Duties:

Programme Development 

  • In depth understanding of the American University higher education system, student services and market

  • Developing proposals for study abroad programmes with faculty and staff at universities, primarily from the USA to Europe.

  • Communicate regularly with parties from various backgrounds to achieve successful customised 

  • Using videos to explain proposals and leading discussions around proposal changes

Programmes Support and Operations

  • Planning faculty-led programmes in Europe primarily in Ireland, Spain, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, with motivation to learn/network about in-country support structures, culture and logistics

  • Pre-departure and onsite orientations with faculty, students and university staff

  • Making bookings, negotiating costs, managing a budget for program expenses, and logistical coordination/planning

  • 24/7 remote support for groups and on-the-ground support for programmes as required 

  • Collect necessary student and faculty information for programmes

Other Duties

  • Emergency phone rotation among Learn International team

  • Up-to-date passport and ability to travel is required

  • Agree to use photos, videos, materials on website, flyers and social media where candidate is featured or in material

  • Social media marketing as required

  • Other duties as assigned or and all duties subject to change

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from a reputable university in Europe or the USA: International Education, Tourism, Event Planning or a related field or equivalent experience 

  • 3+ years’ experience in international education, operations, tourism and/or student services or similar field

  • A demonstrated sensitivity to student needs and cultural differences

  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team player 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to effectively prioritise tasks and responsibilities.

  • Confidence to manage, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations

  • Ability to use discretion and judgment regarding confidential information and GDPR regulations

  • Up-to-Date Manual Handling Certificate

  • Garda Clearance or background check upon offer of employment

  • Reliable transportation, ability to use rental cars with full clean driver's license 

  • Strong IT skills - Google Suite, Social Media, experience with a CRM and Adobe

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.

  • Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.

  • Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.

  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.

  • Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a related field

  • Written and verbal fluency in Spanish

  • Up-to-Date CPR & First Aid Certification

  • Eligibility to work in Ireland or working papers or Learn International may make a visa application for the position if necessary

Salary Packages

  • €30,000-31,500 Salary DOE

  • 20 days annual leave and paid holidays

  • Company Laptop and company mobile telephone/phone allowance
